Aldon Octane Booster was developed over 20 years ago when 5 star 100 octane petrol was withdrawn to reduce the poisonous lead emissions that were harmful to the enviroment.

The use of lead in petrol is threefold;

To lubricate valves/guides to prevent sticking
To help reduce valve seat sinkage
To increase resistance to knock or pinking

Many classic and competition cars with high compression engines suffered knock or pinking problems because of the redution in octane value. Knock or pinking is the spontaneous detonation of part of the fuel mixture in the combustion chamber.

Knock reduces engine power and can result in damage to the cylinder head gasket or piston crown. Heavy knock can lead to pre-ignition and rapid catastrophic piston failure.

Aldon Octane Booster was primarily developed to increase the resistance to knock or detonation, not to reduce valve seat sinkage or lubricate valve guides. Other additives are available to do this or preferably hardened valve seats and bronze type guides.

The additives that are available whilst offering a slight increase in octane do not offer anywhere near the octane improvement that Aldon Octane Booster does.

Aldon Octane Booster has been the market leader for over fiftenn years. It has been acknowledged as the most effective petrol octane improver since it was developed and has been and has been improved over the years to maintian this position.

Aldon Octane Booster is used world wide by many of the leading race and rally teams when regulations allow its use.Aldon Octane Booster is also used when increased loads are placed on the vehicle such as towing and also where the quality of petrol is very poor.

Recently Aldon Octane Booster has found a new market with the influx of Japanese import cars which require 100 octane fuel and with high boost turbo cars which would otherwise suffer pinking and power loss.

Independent tests have shown that a 2-3% mix of Aldon Octane Booster can increase octane ratings 98 to 103 ron. Indeed even larger mixes have resulted in even higher claimed octanes although we have not substantiated these claims ourselves. One customer has seen a reduction of over 1 second off his 1/4 miles drag time with very large mixes of Aldon Octane Booster.
